Being aware of when waves are hazardous can potentially prevent a tragedy.
Do you realize that when the waves at the beach become turbulent, it could be dangerous for you?
Knowing when it's too dangerous can save lives, especially after a video emerged of a woman being swept away into the ocean. Some individuals don't hesitate to jump in, but it's crucial to consider the risks involved.
Reports indicate that a search is currently underway for the woman, but has not been successful yet.
Many incidents have occurred where individuals have tragically lost their lives in the ocean, such as the British tourist who passed away while attempting to rescue two children during a vacation.
A single action has the power to alter the direction of your life and impact those in your circle.
A lot of individuals are unaware of the danger until it's too late, and a sudden wave can take away their life instantly.

To avoid more accidents, it's important to understand when it's safe to go into the ocean and how to handle difficulties if they arise.
The Brighton and Hove City Council advises swimming diagonally along the shore.
Always swim alongside the coastline and remain in water that is not too deep. In specific areas and during spring tides, the currents may give the sensation of pulling you away from the shore and towards the open sea.
“Stay calm and swim diagonally across to the nearest point on the beach.”
Our shores are horizontal, allowing you to travel east or west depending on the tide.
Swimming parallel makes it much easier to break free from the current's hold.

The National Weather Service recommends staying dry during high waves and being cautious of fast-moving shorebreak or large high surf waves.
Shorebreak waves crashing onto the sand can result in spinal injuries if individuals are thrown headfirst into the bottom. This can also lead to drowning, as mentioned on their website.
“High surf also presents a significant risk to people in the surf zone, both in the water and along the immediate shoreline.”

The National Weather Service advises to always be aware of your surroundings and to never ignore the ocean.
To ensure your safety, it is recommended to opt for beaches with lifeguards. Lifeguards are well-trained to assist you in case of any difficulties and they possess valuable knowledge about beach conditions and potential dangers.
Helping others and ensuring your own safety can be life-saving. If you come across someone in distress, it's important to remain calm and devise a plan before taking action.
Always keep your hands in front of you to protect your head and neck in breaking waves.
