ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo 7
The renowned Czech manufacturer has created an electric vehicle with all-wheel drive and seating for one person.
The Škoda Design Team has developed the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo, an all-electric racing concept car inspired by the Škoda 1100 OHC Spyder from 1957. This concept marks Škoda's debut in the Gran Turismo series and pays homage to the iconic racing car, promising an exciting driving experience.
In 2019, the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo project started. The design team looked back at the famous Škoda 1100 OHC and had a discussion. They had to decide whether to restore the original car or make a modern version for the digital era. Chief Designer Oliver Stefani was consulted, and the Škoda Design team chose to take an innovative path by combining elements from the past and the future.
This racing concept is a tribute to its iconic predecessor and also includes the key elements of Škoda's Modern Solid design language, like its T-shaped headlights. Additionally, the Vision Gran Turismo presents two unique liveries: one that honors the heritage of the renowned Škoda 130 RS racing car from the 70s, and another that takes inspiration from the Vision 7S concept car, representing Škoda's Modern Solid Design philosophy.
The ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo has a modern exterior design inspired by Formula E cars, featuring sleek lines and sharp edges. It is built for excellent handling with active aerodynamics, including a sculpted body and an adjustable rear wing. The car also has a push-rod suspension system and a carbon monocoque chassis for improved stability and performance.
The ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo design focuses on efficiency and top-notch driving performance. It features two 200 kW (268.2 BHP) electric twin motors, one on each axle, for a total power output of 800 kW (1,072 BHP). With all-wheel drive and smart torque distribution, the car offers a well-balanced and agile driving experience. Additionally, the smooth single-speed transmission allows for seamless acceleration.
The ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo's design seamlessly blends the outside and inside, creating a sense of unity between the driver and the car. This feeling is enhanced when the driver sits in the advanced carbon monocoque chassis cockpit.
AFEELA Prototype 2024 in Gran Turismo 7
Brace yourself for an innovative ‘mobility device' that is about to transform our daily transportation.
Sony Honda Mobility was established in 2022 with the aim of inspiring others by using diverse inspirations and embracing innovative technology. The company recently introduced their AFEELA Prototype 2024 BEV at CES® 2024, showcasing their commitment to creating a new and joyful experience in movement.
The car has a traditional hatchback sedan design on the outside, which looks sleek and aerodynamic. It is equipped with various sensing devices, such as a LiDAR unit on the front of the roof, as well as image and radar sensors. These devices gather precise data to enhance the car's driving assistance capabilities.
The doors will open by themselves when the user gets close, eliminating the need for door handles. At the front grille, there is a ‘Media Bar' that can be personalized, serving as a digital screen for self-expression and communication with people outside the car.
However, the true charm of the AFEELA lies in its cabin. The inside showcases a wide range of amenities to keep passengers entertained.
When you get into the vehicle, the first thing you notice is the large dashboard display that covers almost the entire width of the car. This screen not only shows information from the car, but also offers various entertainment options that can be displayed on the seatback screens for the rear passengers. In addition to music and movies, passengers can also see a real-time 3D view of the car's surroundings captured by the sensor arrays, giving them a game-like experience of the scenery outside.
The car's appeal goes beyond its looks. The AFEELA also has a personal agent feature that lets passengers communicate with the car using natural speech. Moreover, Honda's expertise in mobility and Sony's audio knowledge have led to a unique noise cancelling system that minimizes road noise. With the interior's multiple speakers, you can enjoy an exceptional audio experience, completely detached from the outside world.
The AFEELA changes the way we travel from waiting to actually enjoying the ride. This 2024 Prototype is a crucial step in getting the AFEELA ready for market production.
Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Sport Coupe '70 in Gran Turismo 7
Widely favored in drag racing; showcasing immense power from a colossal engine.
Launched in 1964, the Chevelle marked Chevrolet's entry into the intermediate model segment. Featuring an SS sports grade variant and the choice of a 327ci high output V8 engine, the Chevelle embodied the essence of a classic muscle car.
In 1965, the Chevelle SS underwent a remarkable transformation, becoming a true powerhouse with its 396 ci, OHV V8 engine. From that point forward, the Chevelle SS exclusively featured this impressive 396 ci unit, setting it apart from its predecessors.
The Chevelle SS was hailed as the top intermediate model in 1970 due to its powerful engine options. The 396 ci engine was replaced with a larger 402 ci model, and a new 454 ci version of the 427 ci engine was also introduced.
The LS5 and LS6 were the option codes for the two 454 ci models available. The LS5 had a compression ratio of 10.25:1 and produced 355 BHP, while the LS6 had a higher compression ratio of 11.25:1. With the addition of high cams and high flow headers, the LS6 generated an impressive 449.7 BHP. It's worth noting that this engine was considered the most powerful model in the history of American cars at that time.
The Chevelle SS454 with the LS6 engine was quickly identified as a unique model, boasting an impressive power output that was rare for a street-legal vehicle. Featuring a straight exhaust and carburetor adjustments, it reportedly surpassed 493.1 horsepower effortlessly, making it a dominant force in stock class drag racing.
