Prince Harry has elaborated on the reasons behind his and Meghan Markle's decision to remain in the United States permanently.
Since their relocation across the Atlantic, they have established a life for themselves and their two children in the US, returning to the UK only for significant occasions. Despite their apparent contentment in America, questions have lingered regarding Harry's potential return to the UK.
However, during his appearance at the New York Times Dealbook Summit on December 4, he indicated that such a return is unlikely, as he discussed his family's intention to stay in their current location.
When questioned about the rumors of a divorce, particularly due to their separate public engagements, he clarified to Andrew Ross Sorkin that their individual appearances were simply a result of the invitation extended to him.
Harry expressed that the ongoing speculation regarding his personal life and marriage is “definitely not a good thing,” noting that there have been numerous unfounded claims about their living situation and marital status. He remarked that he felt pity for those who seem to harbor false hopes regarding their relationship.
Regarding their decision to remain in the US, he stated that his family “very much enjoys” their life there, emphasizing that it aligns with the life his mother envisioned for him. He highlighted the privacy they experience in the US, which is not attainable in the UK, allowing them to engage in activities that would be restricted if they resided in Britain.
The prince conveyed that his current focus is on providing the best for his family, describing life within the royal family as akin to being “trapped within this bubble.” He remarked, “When you are kind of trapped within this bubble, it kind of feels like there's no way out.”
The events surrounding my mother's situation, coupled with my childhood feelings of powerlessness, have contributed to significant inner conflict. I experienced a profound sense of helplessness.
“One of my most significant vulnerabilities is the sensation of being powerless.”
In the previous year, Harry and Meghan received a formal request to leave Frogmore Cottage in the United Kingdom, although by that point, they had already relocated to California.
