After Charlie Kirk was assassinated, his well-known rival, Dean Withers, did what he usually does: he went live on his stream. But instead of having a heated argument, the 21-year-old livestreamer started crying.
This emotional moment touched Withers's millions of fans, who see him as one of the smartest young critics of conservatism on the internet.
Withers became popular on social media in 2023 when his videos began to catch the eye of many people, especially his viral clip titled Can 1 Woke Teen Survive 20 Trump Supporters?, which got millions of views.
Withers has more than 4.3 million followers on TikTok and hundreds of thousands more on YouTube. He often debated well-known political figures, including Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was tragically killed on September 10 during a debate at Utah Valley University.

In his younger days, Withers agreed with Kirk's conservative beliefs, but as time went on, he changed his mind and started supporting progressive issues, focusing on social justice and equality.
During his livestream, viewers witnessed a different side of Withers—less of the sharp political commentator and more of a person who was really affected by the loss of someone who had been part of his life, even if they were rivals.
“I'm sad, really upset. Actually, I just cried in front of my livestream with 250,000 people watching,” Withers told his followers. “Gun violence is always terrible, always horrible, and always unacceptable.”
He continued, “I'm sorry you all have to see me like this. I know some people are saying, ‘Maybe you should take a break' in the stream. But I want you to see this. I want you to understand how I feel because there are so many people here right now, and I want to, if I can, show what the public's reaction to this should be,” Withers explained.

He sent his thoughts and prayers to Charlie Kirk's family and those who witnessed Kirk being mercilessly shot.
