The concept involves individuals utilizing digital credentials to gain access to adult websites in Spain, thereby restricting underage individuals from viewing inappropriate content.
The UK has previously deliberated on this issue, as advocates have argued that implementing robust age verification checks would enhance the protection of children.
Nonetheless, the governing body at the time discarded the intended action in 2019.
In 2019, research conducted by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) revealed that more than half of 11 to 13-year-olds had been exposed to pornography, primarily through unintentional means.

Spain is set to introduce a more stringent measure called a ‘porn passport' that will require verified credentials, making it more difficult for individuals to access adult content by simply claiming to be over 18 years old.
The Digital Wallet app will be utilized, and as reported by Olive Press, the procedure will not leave any record of the transaction to prevent the possible exposure of an individual's information.
The data will reportedly stay on the individual's device and will not be sent to the app. The concept is for the system to determine the age of the person attempting to access adult content without having specific knowledge of their identity.
If not, the government would end up swiftly amassing a record of individuals' viewing preferences.

Regular viewers of adult content will be dismayed by the details of the upcoming ‘porn passport' system.
Once an individual has confirmed their identity using their ID, the system will provide them with a set of 30 ‘tokens', each with a validity of 30 days, that can be utilized to access adult content websites.
Spaniards are not obligated to go through an identity check each time they access a pornographic website, but solely when they are seeking additional tokens.
Individuals who frequently consume adult content may encounter difficulties when they begin receiving notifications prompting them to purchase additional tokens. This could inadvertently expose their private preferences and activities when they believe no one is watching.
Although there could be a few uncomfortable notifications, there will be no restriction on the amount of tokens an individual can redeem using the ‘porn passport'.
