Dejana Backo, a unique girl, used to inquire about her specialness during her childhood. However, as she matured, she learned to accept and her body. With her determined personality, she accomplished remarkable achievements: Dejana excels as an artist and a professional athlete. But that's not the end of her story; she has now achieved a significant milestone in her personal by becoming a wife and a mother.

Dejana Backo, a famous Serbian athlete and artist, was born in Novi Sad on December 9, 1994. Despite being born without upper limbs, she never let it hinder her pursuit of success. She embarked on a remarkable journey of self-discovery, which led her to excel as both an athlete and an artist.

Backo used to ask her mother why she didn't have arms when she was young. However, as she grew up, she realized that her disability didn't determine her identity or hinder her from enjoying a joyful life. She carries the same zest for life in her personal affairs. She is deeply in love with her partner, who happens to be a fitness instructor, and together they enjoy exploring new places and sharing their adventures on .

Backo joined the Society of Mouth and Foot Painters at nine years old, motivating her to pursue art. She graduated from Art School in 2014 and later attended Novi Sad's Academy of Fine Arts. Backo has showcased her work in solo exhibitions in approximately 20 locations across the Balkans.

Known as the “winged girl,” she is a symbol of strength and determination in Serbia. Despite being born without arms, Backo has excelled in sports, becoming a world champion in para taekwondo, a historic achievement for Serbia, which she accomplished at the 2019 World Para Taekwondo Championship in Turkey.

She has now jumped to motherhood.

Dejana Backo reached a significant milestone in February 2023 by welcoming her first child. She chose to temporarily step away from competition to prepare for this special moment, leading to her absence from the Paralympic Games in Paris in . Despite not competing for a while, she continues to actively share her message on social media.

Backo has always been passionate about art, but her love for sports is comparatively stronger. She decided to switch to sports because she wanted to participate in the Paralympic Games. In 2016, Backo began training in Para taekwondo and successfully won the K41 women's -47 kg division. Congratulations, Backo!

The athlete openly shared that as individuals with disabilities, we all face challenges. However, if you have a strong sense of self and understand your own value, you can overcome the obstacles and concentrate on the positive aspects.

Backo acknowledges that becoming a parent will have an impact on her sports career. Her plan to take a break before getting back to training might influence her physical performance. However, the determined mother is confident that she can overcome any obstacles that come her way.

Dejana has mastered the use of her legs, surpassing the dexterity of many people's hands. She lovingly tends to her daughter, performing all the typical motherly duties such as feeding, changing diapers, and strolling in hand.

Dejana and her partner recently tied the knot. She shared lovely pictures of them with their daughter and wrote, “On 22.2.2024, these two souls pledged their eternal love before God, loving each other unconditionally and without limits!”
